BCT destroys UM-Ilang, remains undefeated in DAPRISA Games 2024 Girls Volleyball

Brokenshire College Toril (BCT) Aces gifted its home court with another straight set win after finishing off the University of Mindanao-Ilang (UM-Ilang) in its latest game in DAPRISA Games 2024 Girls Volleyball, keeping a 2–0 winning record.
Early in the game, UM-Ilang and BCT donated each other’s first points after committing faults , 1–1.
Aces continued its point-charity to UM-Ilang after Nyce Gantuangco committed a service error. Diane Intes then delivered a drop raising the Aces’ score to 2.
However, UM-Ilang followed through with successful attacks, 3–4, in favor of UM-Ilang.
BCT seized the momentum thanks to miscommunication on the UM-Ilang side allowing Intes to ace a serve, Zabrina Jyll Dumandan to deliver an attack, and Emerald Batac to send down a drop. Two additional points propelled BCT as UM-Ilang failed to deliver a drop and sent one ball out of the court, 8–4.
UM-Ilang quickly recovered following a net-touch error and failed attack on the BCT side, 8–6, still in favor of the Aces.
BCT sobered up as they gained a series of points with attacks from Intes and a few faults from UM-Ilang.
Gantuangco further raised BCT’s score with two service aces quickly followed by failed drops and service errors.
BCT’s Jhean Francine Alcuizar and Emerald Batac sneaked two successful attacks widening the gap, 21–12, still in favor of BCT.
Although Team Captain Intes committed a service error, Batac made up for the loss with an attack followed by a service ace from Erich Nicole Satera bringing BCT to set point, 24–13.
With UM-Ilang’s inability to return the ball, the first set ended at 25–15, in favor of BCT.
In the second set, BCT captain Intes opened the set with drops followed by three service aces courtesy of Cubio leaving UM-Ilang six points behind, 6–1.
UM-Ilang broke BCT’s streak after a service error by Cubio and Alyssa Bernadette Lumeran, 7–2.
The standing was followed by a series of give-and-take scores as both sides committed errors.
With net fault from UM-Ilang, BCT gained its 13th score of the set and proceeded to shower UM-Ilang with attacks and drops giving them few chances in a row to score.
BCT delivered more taps and drops and benefited from UM-Ilang’s errors eventually finishing them off, 25–26, with Sweet Rose Lanoy’s service ace.
The Aces are set to play next against Thompson Christian School of Davao (TCS) on November 25.
